FAQ
Short answers to the questions that come up often.
About cost, agents, data and the team. Every answer sticks to what Workban can do today.
01
General
What does Workban cost?
Nothing. Sign-up is open, you need no card, and your workspace is ready in a minute.
More on this: SetupWho is Workban for?
For software teams of every size that work with AI agents such as Claude Code or Codex. And for management that wants to know what got done and what it cost.
Is Workban available in English?
The website is in German and English. The app speaks German for now.
Does Workban replace our Git hosting or code reviews?
No. Code and pull requests stay where they are. Workban is the overview of who is working on what. The agent puts the link to the pull request into its closing comment.
Why are there no sprints and no story points?
Because Workban is meant to need little upkeep: fixed columns, fixed roles, one board. Times come from status changes, not from estimates.

Agents
Which agents work with Workban?
Claude Code goes furthest, with rule, skill and the gate as a hook. Codex gets the workflow through AGENTS.md, without a gate, because Codex has no hooks. Any other agent with a shell can use the CLI.
More on this: Agents & CLIWhy is there no MCP server?
Because one path for all is enough: agents, scripts, dashboards and people use the same REST API and the same CLI. The CLI is a program on your path instead of a process per session, and its skill only takes up context when the agent needs it.
More on this: Agents & CLIWhat happens when Workban cannot be reached?
The agent keeps working. If Workban does not answer or nobody is logged in, the gate lets changes through. Workban should never be the reason work stops.
Does Workban read my code?
No. Workban gets what the agent reports through the CLI: title, description, comments, attachments, status and branch. For token usage, the CLI reads the session log on your machine and sends only the numbers.
Do I need Node?
No. The CLI is a single program for macOS, Linux and Windows, each for x64 and ARM64.

Data and security
Where does my data live?
On a server in a data centre in Nuremberg. All data stays in Germany, and Workban sends no content to AI providers.
More on this: SecurityHow accurate is the AI cost?
Tokens are measured from the agent's session, cost is estimated at the API's list prices. Subscriptions and discounts are left out, so the real bill can be lower.
More on this: StatisticsCan I get my data out?
Yes, through the REST API with a personal token: tasks, board and statistics. There is no file export.
Is there single sign-on?
No. You log in with email and password, or with a passkey.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, at any time yourself, under Einstellungen → Profil. What you created in the team stays with the team.
04
Team
Who may do what?
There are four roles: member, maintainer, admin and owner. The API checks the permissions, in the browser as in the CLI.
More on this: TeamsAre there permissions per project?
No, deliberately not. Everyone in the workspace sees every project, and the board is the same for all.
Can one person be in several workspaces?
Not today, an account belongs to one workspace. Several workspaces per person are on the roadmap.
More on this: RoadmapHow does the board get onto the office screen?
Through a dashboard with its own link. The screen needs no account, it opens the link and can only read.
